Return of the Big Boys! For whatever reason, I was hesitant to purchase this year’s modular when I saw the initial pictures back in November 2020. After seeing more of the interior and seeing how tall the structure is, my wife and I decided to buy and add this to our collection.
And we’re very happy we did! The build is incredibly fun, with lots of fun details, most seen, some hidden, and the height and width of the set, reminded us of the buildings from the gold and silver eras of modulars past. Though we’ve enjoyed the previous iterations the last three years, it’s nice to have a larger, new set.

Modular city on the way!The police station is actually my first Lego modular set and I am so happy I decided to get this one first. When I was building the jail cell I was so intrigued to find that it had a escape crack and that’s why the spoon was hidden in the basement. I enjoyed every single set and it actually took me around 12 hours to complete. 10/10 would recommend to a friend.

Love it!So, yeah, it’s just a toy. But, I got into Legos during lockdown, building Upside Down, Medieval Blacksmith, some similarly-scaled Harry Potter… and I have thoroughly enjoyed weirding them all up a bit. “POLICE” is not out front of this building. To me, it’s a Co-op and Artists Building with Donut Shop! I’ve added a bunch of personal touches everywhere and continue to evolve the architecture, plant life, mini-figs, etc. These are the dollhouses I wanted as a child- but they didn’t exist and I couldn’t afford them! So, yeah, this is just a toy, but it’s also not. It’s an experience that evolves the more I play with it.

Great Modular for my CollectionI must say I enjoyed building this set the most out of other creator expert sets I own. It was straight forward and interesting to see it all come together. There is a lot of details within the interior. The only issue is you cannot see them without taking the separating the floors. There is a story with the set, but I’m not interested in the story as others were. I think the set looks fantastic. The box does nots do it just. One complaint I have is the black pages of the instruction manuals. They made some of the darker pieces hard to make out during construction. I like the black box these adult sets come in, but I do not like the black paged instruction manuals.

Hours of just a fun timeWas looking for a bigger set to just take my time and build over a couple days, but once I started this set I just couldn’t stop. There’s so many awesome details and colors used not to mention unique build techniques. I love placing minifgures throughout the scene as well.

Modular Builds are My FavoriteThe LEGO Police Station was a fun build and it was a pretty easy build. The only complaint I have is I wish there was a sink in the bathroom so the mini figures could wash their hands. LOL The exterior is nice, but I really like the details that are inside as gives a nice 40s & 50s look to the station. The classic police uniforms is a nice touch that LEGO did. I would recommend this to anyone.

Beautiful, colorful and very detailed!I am a Technic fan and this es my first build on a Creation building! Don’t get me wrong, my experience goes back many years and with kits like Cinderellas Castle, Taj Mahal, Millenium Falcon, Lamborghini Sian and many other thousand element creations. This was an exception since I have read so many good reviews of this kit that decided to buy it as soon as it was made available. No regrets! Over 2,000 elements, highly detailed and complex enough to keep me busy for a few days. I took, like always, my sweet old time, not rushing, but enjoying hours of building it. I do not accounted for the hours it took me to build, but they were long enough to turn into more than a week. Colorful in its design; intricate in its formation. The design of the three floors is just a work of art; the decor on the external front awnings and the way the tilling is designed to fit and display, just ingenious. Details like the commodes, the toilet paper dispensers, the jail inside, the donut shop: what an ingenious and realistic touch! We all connect policemen/policewomen with coffee and donuts! The news stand! Just wonderful and beautiful. The instruction book, well black pages would not be my first choice, but like most things in life, I guess will have to get used to them. That is our new reality, unless… Missing parts are still annoying! On this kit I had 3 missing parts that I had to order but thanks to my personal inventory, I was able to finish the build. Missing parts have been my main problem in the past builds, one that caused me to return a whole kit! On the other hand, there are always a lot of left over parts, usually small but in some instances in larga amounts! I am including a foto of my left over. Clear plastic parts: this seems to be an issue that comes up every now and then and there is a very simple solution. As they are packed in Lego and arrive to us in the many plastic bags, they arrive virtually undamaged, my experience. Mostly, they are damaged as we move them around searching parts to build the kit. What I do is, as I empty the bags, if I see any window or door frames, I search for the clear plastic and set them aside so they wont get scratched as I move the other parts around. It helps a bit. Tools, well my finger are a bit tired and swollen, so picking up small parts can some times be challenging, to say the least. For that purpose, I got from a veterinary friend of mine, a disposed set of surgical tweezers and using some very small heat shrink tubing, covered the ends so they would not scratch the small plastic bricks. They work perfectly! Of course, the Lego brick separator tool is a must! Price, well, if consider amount of research, development, engineering, amount of bricks, instructions book printing and production price, packing, box prep and printing and free shipping, I am very happy with the kit, it’s outcome, building experience and price! Enjoy your build! Oh! I forgot, we celebrate all seasons and all Holidays, that is why you can see a mantle with hearts: this February, month of Saint Valentine!!!!

Unique Police StationHello…I just completed building this set and I had lots of fun doing it. This build has very unique detail that I have not seen before. I have been building these modular sets for quite a long time and have learned a lot about the designing skills that Lego has. I have tried my hand at building my own police station and I must admit this build is very decorative. So, my town has a “Police Headquarters” and a city Police Station.
The only thing that I find a problem is the use of black sheets that the instructions are printed on…this makes it difficult to see dark pieces, their shapes and colors. Lego should consider people with poor eyesight due to old age, still love to build.
For those that say they are missing pieces…I find when I think I am missing a piece, I most likely used that piece in the wrong place. I go back into the instructions and sure enough, I messed up.
I recommend purchasing this set because it sure is unique!
The last picture is the police station I built from a lot of left over pieces.

LEGO Street BluesThe deeper I got into this project, the more impressed I was at the forethought that went into the interior layout of the “cop shop.” Citizens walk into the ground floor to file reports with the desk sergeant. Second floor is where officers write reports or follow up with victims and/or witnesses using the manual typewriter and rotary phone. The alcove for taking mug shots is ingenious. (My only criticism, and it’s a minor one, is the lack of a Detective minifigure) Third floor is the admin level: precinct commander’s office and private washroom. I smiled a little upon seeing both the washroom and holding cell downstairs come with toilets, which I believe is a first for LEGO. The location of the evidence locker across from the captain’s office is entirely logical in that she’s able to monitor the comings and goings of her officers.
I didn’t understand the purpose for the twin “plaques” at the top of the stairway until I attached the small shields and intuited they were memorials for officers who lost their lives in the line of duty. A nice, poignant touch from my perspective as a retired police officer.
So many wonderful details: the evidence in the property lockers; the phonograph/radio combo and small kitchen in the apartment over the doughnut shop; the bluebird with his trophy doughnut on the window ledge. I found assembly a bit of a challenge at times, but the finished product is well worth the investment of time and energy.
On a closing note, I added minifigures to the rooftop: Commissioner and Barbara Gordon, the latter with her handheld Bat Signal, two Gotham cops and the Dark Knight of course. I imagine them conferring post-midnight about the latest depredations of the Joker.
